Seamus Murphy
REDD+ Consultant | Registered Forester
My name is Seamus Murphy and I’m a forester specializing in stand mensuration and carbon verification. I completed my PhD at SOAS, University of London in 2015 and an MSc in Environmental Forestry at Bangor University in 2019. As a Registered Professional Forester (SIFTM #1125) and Forest Carbon Analyst at TÜV SÜD, I audit carbon offset programs under VCS, ACR, ARB, PEFC, and ART standards.
Over the years, I have observed forest monitoring systems fail not from flawed science, but from inaccessible workflows and poor documentation. This drives my commitment to developing open-source tools and reproducible frameworks in R and Python that verification teams can deploy and maintain. From Monte Carlo uncertainty quantification to enhanced forest inventory protocols, I prioritize transparent methods, QA/QC documentation, and version-controlled workflows (2026, 2025a, 2025b, 2025c, 2022c).
Workflows also cover applications in LiDAR, RADAR, and multispectral imagery for forest health monitoring (2023a, 2024a), as well as in-situ data scaling, GPS accuracy assessments and open-source survey deployment systems (2019, 2021a, 2021b, 2022a, 2022b).
